Women’s Development Cell Workshop

Anjuman-I-Islam’s Allana Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, organized a two-day zonal workshop on “Implementation Of The Sexual Harassment Of Women At Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition And Redressal) Act, 2013 And Related Issues” in association with Women Development Cell, University of Mumbai on 3rd and 4thSeptember, 2015. The primary objective of this training workshop was to acquaint the participant teachers (members of CWDC and the Internal Complaints Cell) with details of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the procedure for conducting the inquiry by the Internal Complaints Cell under the Act. The dignitaries present at the inauguration ceremony were Dr. Zeenat Shaukat Ali, Founder & Director-General; The Wisdom Foundation was the Key note speaker, Ms. Hamida Bhiwandiwala, a philanthropist, graced the occasion as guest of honor. Begum Rehana Ahmed, Executive Chairperson, AI's Board for Girl's Primary & Secondary Education begin the occasion with welcome speech .Dr. Kranti Jejurkar Chairperson, UWDC briefed audience about work done by university women development cell and reason to become very aggressive in taking actions against the issue. Mrs. Shkama Dalwai, Founder member and strong pillar of UWDC, made herself available for the inaugural. Mr. Mushtaq Antulay Vice President, Anjuman-I- Islam honored the occasion being the chief guest lightened the mood of audience after serious fiery speech by Dr. Zeenat Shaukat Ali and Dr. Kranti Jejurkar. Responsibility of giving vote of thanks was taken by Ms. Yasmin Saifullah, Executive Chairperson of AIAIMS.

On 3rd September Mr. Harish Sadani Director, MAVA, conducted a session on “Gender: How it operates in Society. A Session related to ‘Contextualizing Sexual Harassment’ by Ms. Ujjwala Mhatre, AKSHARA foundation. The session on 4th September was conduct by Ms. Neha Kabir of Activist, Human Rights Law Network on “The Law and How to implement it”. Dr. Kranti Jejurkar, Chairperson, UWDC discussed “Functions and Issues” in the post-lunch session. There was a participation of 34 representatives from various institutes. Sessions were highly interactive and informative, lot of deliberation transpired over the topic giving full confidence to institute level WDC committee members with respect to how to handle cases they come across.
