8th National Conference on SHRM

Anjuman – I – Islam’s Allana Institute of Management Studies (AIAIMS) organized its 8th National Conference on the theme of ‘Strategic Human Resource Management’ on Wednesday, 30th March, 2016. Mrs. Rafana Kazi (Asst. Prof.) along with Mrs. Afreen Syed (Asst. Prof.) were the organizing Committee Members.

The 8th National Conference was inaugurated by a formal Inaugural Ceremony which was followed by a technical session. The inaugural function of the 8th National Conference commenced with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Director Incharge Dr. Lukman Patel of AIAIMS addressed the gathering about the theme of the Conference, emphasizing the need for SHRM in today’s competitive business scenario. The Inauguration Ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. A. Balasubramaniam , Prof. A.K. Kher and Dr. Nadeem Merchant; in the presence of research scholars, faculty and students.

The Referees for the Technical Track sessions were Dr. A. Balasubramaniam. Research papers were received from various institutions. In the technical Track sessions ,We have had deep insights into several issues on Strategic Human Resources Management were research scholars from local, national levels enlightened us on this theme and put forth their ideas.

For the afternoon session, a Panel Discussion on the theme of the conference was addressed by a very distinguished panel of experts.

The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Padma Shri Dr. Naushad Padamsee (Chairman, Eagle Group of Companies). The institute is grateful to him for sparing his valuable time amidst his multifarious preoccupations and traveled to AIAIMS to enlighten all on the theme.

We were pleased to have Ms. Nirmala Mehendale , Vice President, (Bombay Management Association, BMA) amongst us today as our Guest of Honour. Ms. Nirmala spoke on the evolution of HRM in the days when she started her career and compared it with the current scenario she works in. she highlighted the importance of technology and its impact on HRM function.

Honorable President Dr. Zahir Kazi presided over the function. The other dignitaries present on the dais were Mr. Mushtaq Antulay (Hon. Vice President, Anjuman-I-Islam), Dr. Abdullah Shaikh (Hon. Vice President, Anjuman-I-Islam) and Adv. Aqeel Hafiz , Hon. Joint secretary, Anjuman-I-Islam).

Padma Shri Dr. Naushad Padamsee addressed the gathering on importance of strategic human resource management. Sir started with praising Anjuman-I-Islam which has been functioning for more than 100 years imparting education to more than 1.10 lakh students. Sir highlighted the significance of HR Philosophy and HR Guidelines essential for any organization to survive. He illustrated the prominence of decision-making through a fable, which was very appreciated and well understood by the gathering.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Lukman Patel. All the management members present for the occasion were delighted by Padma Shri Dr. Naushad Padamsee presence and also expressed feelings of joy as the conference turned out to be a successful event of the academic year.

The event was a grand success also because of the young and enthusiastic team of student volunteers, along with assistance from Mr. Chinmay Chopade (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Jayadeep Manjeshwar (Asst. Prof.), Ms. Lavina Panjnani (Placement In-charge), Mr. Awesh Bhornya (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Faisal Memon (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Irfan Lakhani (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Irshaad Khan (Superintendent), Ms. Salma Sayed (Admin Asst.); and all other support staff and faculty members.


7th National Conference on Brand Management


Anjuman – I – Islam’s Allana Institute of Management Studies (AIAIMS) organized its 7th National Conference on the theme of ‘Brand Management’ on Saturday, 31st October, 2015. Mrs. Rafana Kazi (Asst. Prof.) along with Mrs. Afreen Syed (Asst. Prof.) were the organizing Committee Members.

The inaugural function of the 7th National Conference commenced with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Director of AIAIMS addressed the gathering about the theme of the Conference. He spoke about the relevance of Brand Management in today’s competitive marketing scenario, importance of branding and building a vibrant and powerful brand that characterizes the strongest businesses.

The Referees for the Technical Track sessions were Dr. Swati Sabale (Director at Mansukhani Institute of Management) and Dr. Nadeem Merchant (AIAIMS). Research papers were received from various institutions across the country.

For the afternoon session, a Panel Discussion on the theme of the conference was addressed by a very distinguished panel of experts. Dr. R.K. Srivastava (HOD Marketing, Sydenham Institute of Management Research and Entrepreneurship, was the convener for Panel discussion. Other panel members included Mr. Sarwar Zariwala (Marketing Director for Jotun, a Norwegian Company which is amongst the top Paints companies in the world), Mr. Vivek Mendonsa, (Marketing Director of Lawrence & Mayo). We were fortunate to have with us our alumni Mr. Roch Mario D’Souza Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Future’s group’s discount Format Brand Factory.

The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Mr. Prahlad Kakar, (Founder Genesis Film Production Pvt. Ltd.) The Ad guru and a leading Indian Ad film director who found time amidst his multifarious preoccupations and traveled to AIAIMS to enlighten all on the theme.

Honorable President Dr. Zahir Kazi presided over the function. The other dignitaries present on the dias were Mr. Moiz Miyajiwala (Hon. Treasurer, Anjuman-I-Islam), Mr. Aqeel Hafiz (Hon. Joint secretary, Anjuman-I-Islam), Mr. Suresh Mhatre (Advisory Board of Governors, Anjuman-I-Islam), Subroto Chakraborty ((Advisory Board of Governors, Anjuman-I-Islam), Subroto Chakraborty), Mr. Rashid Matadar (Ex- VP Anjuman-I-Islam), Mr. Akhtar Rangoonwala (Chairman, Anjuman-I-Islam) and Mr. Fuaad Patka (Chairman, Cultural Board, Anjuman-I-Islam).

Mr. Prahlad Kakar addressed the gathering on value building and inculcating authentic values. He emphasized on the importance of value and its impact on product. He expressed this with an example of a Mother, who according to him are the best Brand builders. He also mentioned on adding not just money value but human values to products to evolve them as brand. These products should have certain human values like trust, loyalty, passion, compassion to bring product to life. Mr. Kakar ended by showcasing to adverts – Google Reunion & A National Anthem by and for the Specially Abled children.

6th National Conference on Innovation: A catalyst to business


Anjuman-I-Islam’s Allana Institute of Management Studies (AIAIMS) organized the 6th National Conference on the theme of Innovation: A catalyst to business on 24 th March 2015. Prof. Poonam Chaudhari, Prof. Jayadeep Manjeshwar, Prof. Chinmay Chopade and Prof. Awesh Bhornya were the organizing committee members.

The dignitaries present at the inauguration ceremony were Dr. R. K. Srivastava (Professor& HOD -Marketing& Research, SIMSREE), Dr. Aruna Deshpande (Associate Professor, University of Mumbai’s ADMIFMS) and Dr. Pradeep Manjrekar (Dean – Faculty of Business Management, Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University and Dr. Lukman Patel (Director, AIAIMS) it was followed by paper presentations. Research papers were received from various institutes across India.

For the afternoon session, a panel discussion was arranged in Karimi Library on the theme of the conference. Dr. Firdos Shroff (Ex Banker and Consultant), Dr. Yogesh Joshi (Senior Manager Corporate Communications, Tata Steel) and Mr. Keyur Jani (Deputy Manager HR, Deloitte & core committee member of MTHRG) were the members for panel discussion.

The Chief Guest for the valedictory function was Mr. Ramesh Iyer, MD & CEO Financial Services Sector, Mahindra& Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. Various other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Dr. Zahir Kazi, President, Anjuman-I-Islam, Mr. Aqeel Hafiz, Jt. Secretary Anjuman-I-Islam, Mr. Fuaad Patka, Chairman Board for Cultural Matters Anjuman-I-Islam and Dr. Lukman Patel, Director, AIAIMS.

The Valedictory function began with the felicitation of various dignitaries. Mr. Ramesh Iyer addressed the audience with respect to the theme indicating that the innovation is the day to day phenomenon and the companies need to innovate to fulfill the needs of the consumers. He shared his experience of doing business in rural India and how innovation was needed on every step of the business to make it successful. This was followed by the presidential address wherein, Dr. Zahir Kazi congratulated the faculty, staff and students for their efforts. He also emphasized the importance of being innovative.

This was followed by the distribution of certificates. The valedictory function concluded with the vote of thanks and National Anthem.
